McGuffey Healthcare offers a new career opportunity for people in the Gadsden area. Our award-winning nursing home has paid Certified Nurse Aide training. No college education or previous professional experience is needed; however, a high school diploma or GED is necessary.
These monthly classes cover basic nursing skills and prepare students for advanced career education in the medical field. Upon successful completion of the classes and certification testing, the students will be offered positions at McGuffey Healthcare.
Certified Nursing Aides or CNAs are trained to perform routine tasks under the supervision of nursing and medical staff. They maintain a safe environment and perform selected duties related to the personal hygiene and the comfort of long-term care residents. Nursing assistants also observe physical, mental and emotional conditions and report any changes to the nursing or medical staff. April Conley, McGuffey administrator, believes CNAs have a vital role that extends beyond just providing needed care.
“A CNA is often the first person a resident sees in the morning and the last person they see at night so they are an important part of their lives. They listen, give encouragement and provide comforting compassion for our residents,” Conley said. “It’s rewarding work that requires special people.” For more information or to sign up for classes, click here.
